It seems that even though we have only been back in school for a few days many people are already feeling a little sick or are fighting the common cold on top of all the craziness the beginning of semester brings. It can be a little frustrating getting sick right away, especially after spending a vacation resting and relaxing. It is not too uncommon though when everybody is back on campus and living and working in such close quarters with one another to catch whatever cold is going around. A few things that can help you get back on your feet this semester (or help you to not get sick at all!) include…
-Eat lots of fruits and veggies to keep up on your vitamins! You might not be at home anymore but if you were you know what your mom would tell you….
-Try to exercise every day! Exercising helps you stay healthy overall and less stressed. Stress often leads to a high chance of getting sick so do all you can to lower your chances. (And hey – the less stress the better!)
-Sleep! And finally the most important factor. There is no replacement for a good night’s sleep when it comes to being sick. It leaves you more refreshed and feeling better and gives your body a chance to fight off the cold. I have learned how sleep is an extreme value in college and can be hard to come by when trying to keep up with crazy schedules, but sleeping is one of the best things to do to avoid getting sick and speeding up the recovery process if you do catch a nasty cold.
So, here’s to an educational, rewarding and healthy new school year!
