13 Things to Do Over the Break

First off, once you finish your last final, treat yourself to something nice: a DQ Blizzard, a movie, a nap, a night with friends, whatever makes you happy.  After that, consider trying some of these things over the break!

  1. Take a Trip – to visit family, if you can, or at least somewhere memorable.
  2. Buy your textbooks for next semester as early as possible – beat the rush so that you can get the used/rental copies instead of buying them new.
  3. Read that book you’ve been meaning to read.
  4. Go see The Hobbit in theaters – I really liked it, at least.
    • Hint: If you see any movie before noon at AMC, it is only $5!!
  5. Get started on your job hunt, especially if you graduate in May, because it will be more difficult once school starts again.
  6. Go see the classic Broadway Musical Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway as it hits theaters Christmas Day.
  7. Prepare for next semester before the first day of classes.
  8. Take a lazy day to just do whatever you want – everyone needs one of these now and again.
  9. Spend some one-on-one time with someone that looks up to you (i.e. younger sibling, niece/nephew, son/daughter).  They’ll remember it, trust me.
  10. Write a letter or call someone you haven’t seen in a while (old friend, neighbor, etc.) to catch up on how their doing.
  11. Find a cause and make a difference!
  12. Start a new hobby!
  13. Write out some goals for the New Year – but don’t forget about them this time!

Well, I hope that you’ve had fun reading the blog this semester–I know I’ve had fun contributing to it.  Have a great break!  Make the most of it!

About Justin Bates

I was raised in Washington state, moved to Arizona when I was 16, spent two years in the Dominican Republic as an LDS Missionary and have been back in Arizona since 2010. I married my high school sweetheart soon after I returned from my mission and have been working my way through school since then. At the W.P. Carey School of Business, I'm a senior studying Business Management and will graduate this December (2012). In the last year, I have successfully started my own digital marketing consulting business that contracts with various organizations. I enjoy helping my clients to both develop and implement their brand’s digital marketing strategy. It is also fun to tell people that I "play on Facebook" for a living. My goal is to grow this business into a digital marketing agency after college.
